I CREATED A BREAKTHROUGH PLAYING-BASED MUSIC EDUCATION METHOD THAT’S A CODIFICATION OF THE WAY THAT MUSIC OCCURRED TO ME AS A VERY YOUNG CHILD. WE’VE NOW EMERGED AS A GLOBAL LEADER IN OUR FIELD.

By 3 or 4 years of age I would hear music and picture it, in my mind’s eye, in terms of shapes and patterns. I discovered as an adult that I could explain this to people in a way that would allow them to see music as I do. And, as a result of that, I discovered that this perspective could transform how quickly and easily people were able to learn how to play great-sounding music.

Over a period of decades I developed this perspective into a structured and comprehensive music education curriculum. I also codified it into a system of training educators how to teach my method. We’re now approaching our 25th year, and it’s been a remarkable journey.

My organization, Simply Music, now has over 700 Licensed Educators across 12 countries. We also offer world-class education via our online, self-study program, and have a student community across 135 countries. You can find out more here: simplymusic.com

“We’re a global pioneer in playing-based music education. Our underlying premise is that all human beings are profoundly musical. As such, our programs are designed to impact populations of people. Our focus is to cause a breakthrough in access to musical self-expression, and elevate the creative capability of humanity.”

THE WORD ON THE STREET ABOUT SIMPLY MUSIC:

“I have seen a lot of music programs over the years. Some were fun. Some were clever. Some were thorough. Here’s one that has it all. In terms of presentation, effectiveness, philosophy – you name it – there’s nothing out there that compares at all.”

“This is a wonderful music program and the results are astounding! Even if you don’t consider yourself musically talented, this program is designed for you! It is easy to understand and easy to play a full repertoire of beautiful songs from a variety of genres. I also think this program could be a major breakthrough for children with a variety of cognitive delays and learning disabilities. I love the Simply Music approach.”

“I’m a classically trained violinist and self-taught jazz pianist. When I first spent three days at a Simply Music Teacher Training workshop it was an emotional high. I saw students who had had only eight lessons, play eleven songs from four different genres. The confidence of every student was like nothing I’ve ever seen. The approach not only makes sense, it makes me wonder why educators ever thought they should teach music in the way that they have, for so long.”

“As a result of a spontaneous cerebral hemorrhage, I sustained a serious brain injury and was no longer engaged in gainful employment.  With the help of my care-provider, we found Simply Music. It has been of fantastic benefit to me, in that it enabled me to play the piano immediately.  It is a superior method of learning in that it encourages the brain to forge new (and old) pathways, enhancing healing!  In short, I’ve found the Simply Music program to be of enormous benefit to me in my rehabilitation. It’s the glue that is bringing my brain back together.”

I started Simply Music to stimulate my aging brain. I’m 80 years old. The effect this program has had on my cognitive function has been extraordinary. I’ve gone from feeling lazy and being disorganized, to the exact opposite! I am 80 years old, and feel like I’m living proof that learning the piano this way slows the decline of an aging brain. The amount of work and talent that has gone into creating this program is extraordinary.
